Our History

West Newton Animal Clinic was born on May 1, 2015, in what was formerly Hope Veterinary Hospital. The site has a long history of serving area animals, as Drs. Hope and Markle practiced at this location for the better part of the last 75 years. West Newton Animal Clinic was previously part of Westmoreland Veterinary Associates, a partnership formed between three veterinary clinics in Westmoreland County.  Due to a partner retiring in  August 2021, Dr. Hofmeister became the sole owner of West Newton Animal Clinic when Westmoreland Veterinary Associates amicably dissolved.

Our Philosophy and Core Values

  • We seek to continue to provide the best quality service to you and care to your pets.
  • We strive to spend time educating you about your pet’s diagnosis or wellness needs. We also take time to get to know each of you a little bit as well.
  • We take time to listen – to your concerns, to your observations, to your thoughts, and to your ideas. We recognize that pet owners know their pets best, and they can often recognize when something is just not quite right.
  • We continue to update our recommendations to reflect the best-practices of veterinary medicine. We view learning as a life-long process.
  • We treat your pet as an individual, tailoring our wellness recommendations and care to his or her lifestyle, age, and breed – not blanketing everyone with a “one-size-fits-all” protocol.
  • We make every effort to help you make your pet’s care fit your budget. We realize that everyone has a budget for pet care, and our job is to help you to make the best choices for your pet and your family.
  • We gladly accept feedback. If there are things we are doing well, we always appreciate hearing about them to reinforce good habits. If there are things we could do better, we want to know about those as well.
  • We seek to live up to the core principles of West Newton Animal Clinic: compassion, quality, courtesy, honesty, thoroughness, and professionalism.
